Hello 4th Grade Parents,

I want to apologize for not utilizing this blog on a consistent basis.  Life got a bit crazy for a while and I kind of put it on the back burner.  When we come back from break, one of my goals is to blog like crazy.  Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Our day from a 4th grader's eyes:

"First thing we did today was music.  We were getting ready for our concert on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.  The kids have to be ready in the band room by 6:20.  Then, after that we came in from music and we did a new kind of math taht we just started.  It is called elapsed time.  After that we silent read for about 10 or 15 minutes.  After that we studied spelling and got our new list, and then we wrote them one time each.  After that we looked at the new theme page.  Then we had lunch and recess.  When recess was over it was the usual after lunch schedule, which is math, recess, and actually something new called Wheat Week.  You learn about different kinds of wheat, soil, and water.  Then we go home and the day is over!"    -Gracie

The homework and spelling list links have been updated.  Important dates to keep in mind:

Missoula Children’s Theater

The performance is Saturday the 6^th.  Come and check it out!

Fundraiser Packets are due Friday, Oct. 5^th

Please let me know if you have any questions about the fundraiser.  If I can’t answer them I will find someone who can.

Late Start – Wednesday, Oct. 10^th

School will commence two hours late on the 10^th.

The spelling list and weekly homework information has been updated.  This week, I am having the students choose one sentence to study.  They can pick whichever one they like.

Below is the info from the letter I sent home on Friday, in case you missed it.

Fundraiser

We kicked off our fundraiser today with an assembly.  Look for the packet in your child’s backpack.

Bus Notes

Please remember that if your child is not riding his or her usual bus home, we need a note indicating his or her after school plans that is signed by a parent.  Thanks for helping us out with this!

Missoula Children’s Theater

MCT will be here October 1^st through October 6^th.  Auditions are Monday, October 1^st from 3:00-6:00 p.m.

Classroom Parties

I think I was absent on the day in Teacher School when they taught us how to throw a killer classroom party.  When it’s left up to me, I tend to keep it simple, like popping in a movie and popping some popcorn, or bringing in some board games to play.  Many of you filled out the Classroom Party slip that was included in your Welcome Back Packet indicating that you would like to attend or help out with our parties.  Last year, I had a parent interested in organizing our classroom parties, and she called the other parents to enlist their help.  Is there anyone out there interested in organizing our classroom parties?  If so, please let me know.  If not, please don’t worry about it.  We will still party, it just won’t be killerJ

It was brought to my attention that the link to our spelling list on this here blog was not working.  I apologize for this.  I have no idea why sometimes the links cooperate and sometimes they don't.  The links to the spelling list and homework for the week are now on top of the page, as you can probably see.  Hopefully it will work from here on out.

What an amazing group of 4th graders I have walking through my classroom door every morning!  They are impressive, and I am so excited to spend the year with them.  This blog will document our time together, and serve as a great conduit for communication.  Check back frequently and enjoy!
